Essex based artist and interior designer.
My love of art and creativity came from my Dad who had a natural flair and eye. My childhood was heavily influenced by my time drawing, painting and being outdoors, so it was a given that I would study fine art at A level. Inspired by works of Tai-Shan Schierenberg and David Hockney I started to develop a linear and colourful style with portraits being my favourite to paint, always in acrylic.
When it came to deciding my career I have always been torn between my interest in the brain and natural world, and my enjoyment of art. In the end, personal circumstances led me to study Neuroscience to Masters level and move into the world of Science and Health Communications. As much as I enjoy this, art has always been there for me in the background, and the COVID-19 pandemic gave me endless hours to dedicate to this.
Now, I am a fully qualified interior designer and create designs inspired by things I love.
I hope you enjoy my work, all handmade by Ellen McIntosh Designs.
